Sweet Home

Home can be a building, it can be a person, it can be a place. In Sweet Home, 28 students from Ḏawurr Boarding House in Nhulunbuy have written heart-felt stories about what home means to them.

In vivid detail, these stories take the reader from the sparkling turquoise waters of Blue Mud Bay, to the quiet of Bulman, to the crocodile filled creeks of Batchelor, and beyond. They take the reader into the bush to hunt bullocky and kangaroos, and fish for barramundi and turtles. They celebrate their successes in footy and athletics. They ponder the meaning of being an artist.

Each story is a love letter to the things and places and people that are important to the Ḏawurr students. Despite coming from 13 unique Communities across the Northern Territory, it becomes clear that they share a love for spending time with their families and out on Country - home sweet home.

'My home is beautiful. Just like how my homeland is beautiful, you will love all the people who live there.'
